BRENDAN RODGERS revealed this week that he shared a laugh with BBC reporter Jane Lewis over his “good girl” comments on Saturday.
And the pair had a joke on-air about the controversial incident when he was put on the spot by the interviewer again after Celtic’s 7-1 win over Dundee.
Cameron Carter-Vickers opened the scoring at Parkhead, while Adam Idah, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor and young sub Daniel Kelly all scored as well to round off the win.
Michael Mellon netted late on for the visitors – who were reduced to 10 men following Finlay Robertson’s red card – but Rodgers’ men were already far our of reach following a stunning first half display.
The result eased some pressure off Rodgers, who has come under fire in recent weeks for the Hoops’ lacklustre form.
The Celtic boss was then in the spotlight this week after he referred to BBC reporter Lewis as “good girl” when wrapping up his interview on Saturday.
Rodgers claimed that a ‘story was being written’ about Celtic this season and he was pressed further by Lewis on his statement, which brought a blunt response from the gaffer.
The incident sparked a furious response online, with the Scottish Feminist Network branding him a ‘dinosaur’, while an apology was demanded on behalf of Lewis from the women‘s group.
But there is clearly no bad blood between Rodgers and Lewis over the incident as they both had a laugh about it when they met again at Parkhead after Celtic‘s win over Dundee.
At the end of the interview, Lewis questioned whether the manager had done anything different with his players to get them fired up for the match.
She asked: “Just finally, was that performance coming do you think? Or did something spark it, did you say something midweek to get the players fired up for this kind of match?”
The Celtic boss laughed: “It certainly wasn’t what I said to you!”
Lewis then replied: “I think we will leave that one there!”.
