JUST when Celtic fans thought the main focus of this transfer window was on getting new faces in, a report has emerged claiming THREE English Premier League sides are keen on of their top players.
Cameron Carter-Vickers has been a standout in the Hoops ever since he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur, initially on loan, at the start of the 2021-22 season.
The American international, 26, was bought outright by Celts in 2022 for £6m after a stellar first campaign in Scotland in which he was a key part of the Ange Postecoglou side that won a double.
The defender has struggled with injuries this term but has remained an important player for Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic have been worried about interest in Matt O’Riley this year and now, according to SBI Soccer, three different clubs could move to tempt Carter-Vickers back to English football.
West Ham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are all said to be interested in the centre-back and it’s claimed those at Celtic Park are bracing themselves for at least one formal bid.
Hammers boss David Moyes knows Scottish football well while Brentford and Forest have also shown a willingness to spend their cash north of the border.
Indeed, the Bees did business with Celtic recently when they signed Kristoffer Ajer for £13.5m in the summer of 2021.
Forest are in hot water with the EPL for breaching profit and sustainability rules but former Rangers chief Ross Wilson could look to cut a deal that works for both parties, with both Joe Worral and Scotland international Scott McKenna on the transfer list at the City Ground.
While it’s highly unlikely Worrall would consider a move to Parkhead having previously played for Rangers (and vice versa), McKenna’s name has regularly been linked to both sides of the Old Firm and Celtic would be able to offer him first team football on a weekly basis ahead of this summer’s Euros.
A switch to Forest for CCV would also see him team up with USA international colleague Matt Turner.
