Chandrababu Naidu won’t take oath on June 9 as Andhra CM, plans a different date: Report

After winning the assembly elections in Andhra Pradhesh, the swearing-in ceremony of N Chandrababu Naidu as chief minister is likely to happen now on June 12, reported ToI. Earlier, the ceremony was planned for June 9. Narendra Modi is being sworn in as Prime Minister for third time a day earlier. To attend Modi’s swearing-in, Naidu is likely to postpone his oath ceremony to June 12, reported ToI. The report further added that Naidu has decided to take oath in Amaravati, his dream capital project which was abandoned by the YSRCP government.

A day earlier, Naidu attended the NDA partners’ meeting at Modi’s residence on Wednesday. He will visit Delhi again on June 7 for another NDA meeting. .

Leaders of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance unanimously elected Modi as the ruling bloc’s leader on Wednesday, passing a resolution to underscore the government’s commitment to serving the poor, women, youths, farmers and deprived sections of society. They met at Modi’s residence here a day after the NDA won a majority of seats in the Lok Sabha election, paving the way for him to take the oath for a third consecutive term, a first for any ruling alliance since 1962.

The NDA alliance comprising Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and the Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) along with the BJP won Andhra Pradesh. Polls for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats were held in a single phase on May 13, 2024.As per the data by the poll panel, NDA registered a massive victory winning 164 out of the 175 seats in the Andhra Pradesh assembly. TDP won 135 seats, Jana Sena party won 21 seats, while the BJP won 8 seats in assembly elections.The alliance performed strongly, securing 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state. TDP won 16 seats, BJP three and Jana Sena Party two.

During the 2019 elections, YSRCP registered a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, winning 151 of the 175 seats in the Assembly, dethroning the TDP government.
