The Buffalo Bills season came to an end Sunday night, losing 27-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.
In another battle between two of the league’s best quarterbacks, Josh Allen finished with 258 total yards, a passing touchdown and a pair of rushing touchdowns.
James Cook had 82 total yards and rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid finished with five receptions for 45 yards.
The Buffalo defense struggled all game to contain Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense, which tallied 363 total yards and scored on five of their seven drives (excluding each drive to end the half, which resulted in kneels).
Buffalo leaned on the rushing attack for much of the game, which had more success in the first half than the second. The Bills had 124 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns — both from Allen — in the first half. They had just 58 in the second.
Mistakes cost Buffalo throughout the game. Kansas City scored its first touchdown after Travis Kelce, completely uncovered, caught an easy pass from Mahomes. The Chiefs quarterback connected with Mecole Hardman twice in the second half for plays of 30+ yards.
The Bills attempted a fake punt in the fourth quarter, which was stifled by the Kansas City punt return team.
With two minutes remaining, Buffalo had a chance to regain the lead as they drove into Kansas City territory. However, Allen was unable to convert on third-and-long and Tyler Bass missed a 44-yard field goal, putting an end to the game and the Bills season.
