The 49ers and Eagles faced off on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia, in a highly-anticipated game between the top two NFC teams in a rematch of last year’s NFC title game.
Although Philly started strong and took a 6-0 lead, the 49ers found their offensive rhythm and went on to dominate with a 42-19 victory. They were able to outmaneuver the Eagles’ defense, utilizing the speed and agility of Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey. The momentum shifted in the second and third quarters as the Niners adjusted their strategy to counter the Eagles’ pass rush.
During the third quarter, the game became heated, resulting in scuffles and ejections. Christian McCaffrey’s attempt to draw a late hit flag on Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox by dramatically flopping to the ground was comically unsuccessful, drawing laughter from the referee. Apart from McCaffrey’s flop and Dre Greenlaw’s ejection, the 49ers dominated the second half, with McCaffrey accumulating 133 total yards and a touchdown, and Samuel gaining 138 total yards and three touchdowns.
