BARLINNIE Prison was flung into chaos this morning after a con scaled the roof.
Jail staff frantically tried to get the lag safely down after the breach.
The incident is understood to have happened between the jail’s C and D halls.
Sources claim the con flung his trainers from the roof before hurling abuse at a group of prison officers.
A prison insider said: “The prisoner was moving from one block to the next when he bolted and jumped on the roof.
“The lag was causing chaos and chucked his shoes from the roof while shouting and swearing.
Prison staff safely brought the man down and said no one was injured in the incident.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “I can confirm an incident took place at HMP Barlinnie.
This was safely resolved by staff. No injuries were reported.”
