Gilmerton Primary in Edinburgh, which has a rainbow pride flag hanging in a classroom, informed parents about their staff member’s non-binary status in a letter.
But feminist Kirsty Russell, 32, was unhappy that a teacher was “being allowed to impose her gender ideology on a classroom of little kids” and fired off an email to headteacher Rebecca Annand.
It said: “This is ridiculous. It will cause massive confusion and questions children should not be thinking about at this stage.”
Police later turned up at her door saying they had received a report of threatening communications.
Kirsty said: “I had to speak out but I didn’t expect the police at my door.
“I was shocked when they told me it was about the email I sent about the teacher.”
Police said they found no criminality and “advice was given”.
A parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said “I am disappointed to see ideologies taking precedence over the unbiased and factual learning environment our children deserve.”
