Coty to accelerate growth of prestige and consumer beauty business in India, partners with House of Beauty

Global beauty business Coty plans accelerate the footprint of its ‘Prestige’ and ‘Consumer Beauty’ business arms in the Indian market. Coty is significantly investing in the country, is launching a new team and office premises, and has signed a strategic agreement with distribution and marketing company House of Beauty.

Coty has appointed Rizwan Mulla as its business development director for India to fuel growth in the region, the business announced in a press release on December 12. Mulla brings to the role a quarter century’s experience in operational management, business development, and marketing and will be based in Mumbai. 
 
“Over the past five years, we have witnessed the meteoric rise of Prestige Beauty in India and today it represents one of the key long-term growth opportunities in Asia for Coty,” said Coty Southeast Asia and India’s managing director Kristina Strunz in a press release. “The strategic investment in Coty’s operations in India underlines the company’s ambition to solidify our already strong presence in the sizeable Indian beauty market. We are excited to welcome Rizwan and the team as we gear up to accelerate growth across the luxury and everyday beauty segments in this dynamic and exciting market.”

Coty retails numerous premium brands in India including Gucci Beauty, Burberry Beauty, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, and Davidoff fragrances as well as consumer brands such as Rimmel, MaxFactor, and Adidas. The business reported 65% growth in the 2023 financial year and expects its growth trajectory to continue. The business signed a strategic distribution agreement with House of Beauty at Quest Retail to launch Kylie Cosmetics in India and create a retail marketing programme to build a consumer base for the brand in the country.
