The John Weber Era in Fort Collins became official Thursday.
CSU Rams president Amy Parsons announced that Weber will continue as athletic director on a permanent basis, removing the interim tag that had been place since the latter stepped into the role this past February.
Weber was announced as CSU interim AD on Feb. 19, when Parsons removed Joe Parker from the position, one he’d held since March 2015.
Earlier this month, Parker joined the University of Iowa as deputy athletic director for strategic initiatives, a role he’s expected to begin by the start of the collegiate fiscal year on July 1.
“I am grateful to President Amy Parsons for entrusting me to lead our department as the world of college athletics is in a period of significant transformation,” Weber said in a statement released by the university. “I have already gained valuable insight on the steps we need to take to make Colorado State Athletics the most loved program in the state, the region, the conference and beyond … that process will take a commitment from all of us inside and outside the department working together to build championship moments.”
Today, I am thrilled to provide an announcement about our @CSURams leadership with the appointments of John Weber as Director of Athletics and Scott Sidwell as Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer.https://t.co/dxpKcFOGRB pic.twitter.com/utPoebwSXV

Weber, a Rams alum, moved into the administrative role after serving as executive director of the Green and Gold Guard Collective, which facilitated name, image and likeness opportunities for CSU athletes. He’d also served as chairperson of the Global Leadership Council with the CSU College of Business and as an advisor to the RAM Life program for student-athlete development.
Terms of Weber’s appointment were not immediately announced by CSU. Parker had more than three years remaining on a contract that ran through Dec. 31, 2027, which reportedly included a base salary of $439,192.
CSU also announced the addition of Steve Sidwell as deputy athletic director and COO, coming to Fort Collins after having served in a deputy AD role with Penn State. Sidwell was the athletic director at the University of San Francisco from 2011 to ’19.
