NEW DELHI: National Testing Agency (NTA) notified the online registration schedule for the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG 2024) on Tuesday. The undergraduate entrance will be conducted between May 15 to May 31, 2024 and the results will be announced on June 30. The agency also announced the subject-wise dates for the CUET-PG 2024, which will commence from March 3, 2024 on Tuesday.
The online registration for CUET UG 2024 commences from Tuesday (11:50 PM) and will continue till March 26 ((11:50 PM).The correction window will be opened for two days – March 28 and 29 (11:50 PM). And the details of the city of examination for the candidates will be available from April 30, 2024.
Last year, the testing agency received approximately 14.9 lakh registration for the CUET-UG. As first reported by TOI in November 2023 and last week, CUET-UG is undergoing a major overhaul such as hybrid model (pen-paper and computer-based modes), and limiting the subject choices to six. “For the Academic Session 2024-25, CUET (UG) – 2024 will be conducted in the Hybrid mode (Computer-Based Test (CBT) / Pen & Paper),” said the NTA’s notification issued on Tuesday.
The CUET-UG, introduced in 2022, provides a single window opportunity to students seeking admission in any of the central universities or other participating organizations, including state universities, deemed and private universities across the country.
According to Subodh Kumar Singh, director general, NTA, the programmes details offered by the participating institutions along with eligibility conditions are available on their respective websites as well as on https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG. Aspirants are advised to read the respective eligibility before opting for the choice of subjects to be selected for the CUET-UG 2024.
The competitive exam will be conducted in 13 languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu and will be conducted in 380 cities including 26 cities outside India.
There are 33 languages and 27 subjects to be chosen from. A candidate may choose any subject/ language as desired by the applicable university/ institution. A total of 40 questions are to be attempted out of 50 in each language.
From among the subjects/ languages, which are divided into three sections, a candidate can choose a maximum of six subjects.
The General Test is for any such undergraduate programme/ programmes being offered by universities where it is to be used for admission and candidates have to attempt 50 questions out of 60.
NTA advises aspirants to select at least one language and the General Test.
The duration for all test papers would be 45 minutes except for Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/ Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.
The examination will be conducted on multiple days in two or three shifts, depending on the number of candidates and subject choices.
The CUET-PG 2024 exams will be conducted from March 11 to 28 and in two shifts each day. The complete examination is to be held in 44 shifts and each shift will be for 105 minutes duration. The CUET (PG) – 2024 examination will be conducted for 157 subjects for 4,62,589 unique registered candidates and they will be administered 7,68,389 tests. Candidates were given an option for choosing a maximum of four test Papers/ subjects.
