WASHINGTON, Aug 12: At least 80 deaths have been reported from the wildfires raging across Maui Island in State of Hawaii since Tuesday, August 8. The authorities have evacuated 1,418 people to safer areas and shelters but scores of others are still missing. Rescuers are trying to account for the missing people while firefighters are battling against the blazes, the worst disaster in the history of the Central Pacific state. Yesterday, Hawaii Governor Josh Green said the fires that engulfed the historic and charming town of Lahaina, the hardest-hit town, left many people without power and water supplies. President Joseph R. Biden had declared a major disaster in the State of Hawaii and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts

Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah has sent a cable of consolation to US President Joseph Biden over fires in Hawaii that left many victims and injuries and demolished properties. His Highness the Amir wished the injured quick recovery and leaders of the nation capacity to contain repercussions of this natural catastrophe. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also sent a cable of consolation to US President Joseph Biden. Maui County raised the number of confirmed deaths to 80 in a 9 p.m. statement Friday. Gov. Josh Green had warned the death toll would likely rise as search and rescue operations continue. Authorities set a curfew from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday.(KUNA)
