The first-ever all-girls Sainik School in the nation was inaugurated in Vrindavan earlier this week by the Union Defence Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
The Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School is situated in Vatsalya Gram Parisar. The school will offer a CBSE curriculum alongwith military training for its students. With a capacity for 120 seats, admission to the Sainik school will be done through a written test, and candidates successfully qualifying the test will proceed to e-counselling.
In 2019, Rajnath Singh sanctioned the phased admission of girl children to Sainik schools, inspired by the success of the pilot project initiated at Sainik School Chhingchhip in Mizoram.
As part of the initiative to establish 100 new Sainik schools in collaboration with NGOs, private institutions, and state government schools across all states and Union territories, the Defence Ministry inaugurated the first all-girls Sainik school.
Defence Minister expressed, “Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School is a beacon of opportunity for girls aspiring to join the Armed Forces and serve the nation. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, the government has rightfully positioned women in the Armed Forces, rectifying years of neglect.”
The establishment of 100 new Sainik schools aligns with the objectives of providing quality education in line with the National Education Policy 2020, offering enhanced career opportunities, including opportunities to join the armed forces, as stated by the Defence Ministry.
