According to the admission schedule mentioned in the official notice, the first list of selected candidates, including a waiting list will be released on Friday, January 12, 2024.
The official notice stated, “All the schools must ensure that the criterion wise break up of points of all applicant children are displayed on their website also.
All the Private Unaided Recognized Schools shall ensure that their admission criterion is in compliance with the provisions of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 in respect of admissions of Children with Disabilities.”

Selection procedure
According to the notice, the draw of lots, whether computerised or through slips, will be conducted transparently in the presence of parents. Eligible parents will receive prior notification of the draw date through the school’s website, notice board, and email at least two days in advance. The draw of lots will be recorded through videography, and the footage will be maintained by the school. Before being placed in the draw box, slips will be shown to the parents.
Additionally, all private unaided recognised schools are required to upload details of admitted and waitlisted children under open seats, along with the marks allotted to them through the school’s point system, on the department’s module.
Furthermore, schools will upload admission criteria and related points, declaring the first list of shortlisted candidates with earned points on 12.01.2024. From 13.01.2024 to 22.01.2024, schools have a 10-day window to address parent queries regarding the points assigned to their children based on the school’s criteria. Schools are expected to have a documented mechanism, either through email or letters, to respond to parent inquiries and maintain details in a register.
Age criterion for admission
The minimum age for admission to Pre-school (Nursery), Pre-Primary (KG), and Class-1 in Delhi Private Schools is three years, four years, and five years, respectively, by the 31st of March of the admission year, according to the Directorate of Education guidelines.
Important documents to be carried as proof of residence
Regarding acceptable documents as proof of address, the following are examples that can be used by parents or children:
- Ration Card/Smart Card issued in the name of parents (Mother/Father with the child’s name).
- Domicile certificate of the child or parents.
- Voter ID Card (EPIC) of either parent.
- Utility bills such as Electricity, MTNL telephone, Water, or Passport in the name of either parent or the child.
- Aadhaar Card/UID card issued in the name of either parent.
