Derek Fisher has five NBA titles to his name and has coached the Knicks and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, and now he’ll try his hand at coaching high school ball.
Fisher was named head coach of the Crespi Carmelite High School boy’s basketball team on Monday, the school announced.
“We are honored and excited to welcome Coach Fisher to the Crespi Family,” school athletic director Brian Bilek said in a statement, according to KABC-TV. “Coach Fisher brings to Crespi his strong work ethic, leadership, and discipline that are rooted in his Christian faith.”
The former NBAer played 18 seasons in the association, most of which was spent with the Los Angeles Lakers.
He also spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks.
Fisher coached the Knicks during the 2014-15 season and part of the 2015-16 campaign before he was fired in February 2016.
He went 40-96 during his time as coach in New York.
He led the Sparks from 2019 through the early part of the 2022 season.

Fisher had spent last year coaching an 8th-grade boys team and a Team Derek Fisher Club girls team, according to high school sports reporter Tarek Fattal.
Crespi Carmelite High School is an all-boys school in Los Angeles and competes in one of the toughest leagues in the state of California.
The school has won two state championships.
“Coaching and teaching is a true passion,” Fisher said in a statement. “And I look forward to continuing this focus on the next generation of young student-athletes. Go Crespi!!”
Current NBA players De’Anthony Melton, Brandon Williams and London Perrantes all played at Crespi during their high school days.
The program was in search of a new coach after their former one, Andrew Moore, resigned in July after four years in the role.
