CHELSEA are reportedly in talks to re-sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid after a £35million move for Samu Omorodion dramatically collapsed last night.
The Spain striker, 20, had already agreed a seven-year contract to move to Stamford Bridge after helping his country secure gold at the Paris Olympics.
But the Athletic claims Omorodion’s Chelsea move has now been scrapped after an unspecified “major problem” occurred in the final process of the transfer.
The Blues are now set to head into the Premier League season without the new striker they have been craving.
And it also means two key Atletico Madrid transfers are in doubt as well.
The Spaniards were on the brink of signing Chelsea fan favourite Conor Gallagher, whose £34m exit will ease PSR fears in west London.
A £75m deal for Man City striker Julian Alvarez had also been agreed, with both deals supposedly hingeing on Omorodion’s Chelsea switch.
But Fabrizio Romano claims a new way to keep the transfers alive has been found.
He reckons Atletico and Chelsea are now discussing terms for Portuguese attacker Felix, who is also wanted by Aston Villa.
The £113m ace scored four goals in 16 games during a brief loan spell under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard in the 2022/23 campaign.

Felix spent last season at Barcelona, where he netted 10 goals and assisted a further five in 41 outings.
And he could now be set for a stunning return to the Bridge in a bid to keep Gallagher’s exit alive.
It is unclear whether Felix’s move would be another loan or a permanent one.
But he could jump at the chance to have a second spell at Chelsea, especially with possession fanatic Enzo Maresca at the helm.
However, Aston Villa are unlikely to give up their move without a fight and will be hoping the lure of Champions League football can tempt Felix to the Midlands — but only if Atletico accept their current £27m offer.
Chelsea are also likely to keep pushing for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who they want to sign on loan with an option for a permanent deal.
Napoli have already agreed a three-year deal with Blues misfit Romelu Lukaku, who can go if his £38m release clause is met.
But the Italians are currently unwilling to bid until Osimhen is offloaded with an obligation to buy.
