E.tv’s latest telenovela Isiphetho: Destiny’s ratings soared this week when it premiered on the 18:30 timeslot.
‘ISIPHETHO: DESTINY’ RATINGS
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reports that Isiphetho: Destiny debuted on Monday, 8 April with over 3 million viewers.
Mphela adds the show kept the momentum and gained traction to 3.5 million viewers on its second day (Tuesday, 9 April).
The show is led by actor Kope Makgae who portrays Mosa and actress Mbalenhle Mavimbela who plays Buhle.
The story follows the intertwined lives of four friends who were bound by a life-changing secret during their teenage years.
“This family-oriented drama series features a diverse cast of characters as they navigate the complexities of community life in Mzimhlope,” the channel said.

Other stars include Isidingo alumni Linda Sokhulu who portrays Blondie, Uzalo actress Gugu Gumede as Connie and Gomora star Thulani Mtsweni as Mkhapheni.
Black Brain Pictures’ director, Mandla N, reveals to Zimoja that the show is set in the heart of Soweto amidst the vibrant community of Mzimhlope.
The four friends are played by Makgae, Mavimbela, Tsholo Maseko and Upile uThixo Bongco. Maseko plays the character of Portia, while Bongco portrays the role of Ntando.
The friends decide to open a restaurant in their community. However, their past rivals threaten to thwart their dreams.
The show has replaced e.tv’s canned telenovela, Nikiwe and competes with DStv’s Sibongile and The Dlaminis at 18:30.
