Diane von Furstenberg celebrates 50 years of the wrap dress with capsule

Diane von Furstenberg (DVF) is paying homage to the 50th anniversary of the iconic wrap dress with a birthday capsule launching as part of its 2024 Spring Collection. 

‘The Wrap 50’ capsule features a limited-edition series of sixteen pieces. Six of these pieces pay homage to the classic wrap jersey silhouettes that made the brand famous, showcasing a special 50th-anniversary black and white crossword puzzle design. The crossword spells out various DVF brand mantras.

Ten other styles revive the iconic Python print, introducing reversible mesh pieces in fresh green and neutral brown. These pieces can be turned inside out to reveal a combination of heritage prints.

Completing the collection, DVF joined forces with magician and New York Times crossword puzzle constructor, David Kwong, to design a custom crossword puzzle, the completed version of which appears as a print on a 100% silk scarf within the collection.

The Wrap 50 collection caters to a range of sizes from XXS to XL, with prices ranging from $218 to $818 USD.

The capsule follows the release of ‘Woman Before Fashion’ by Rizzoli in September 2023. Edited by curator Nicolas Lor, the book traces the life and career of von Furstenberg, complementing Lor’s exhibition dedicated to the iconic designer. 

The exhibition, which opened in Brussels, Belgium, at the Fashion & Lace Museum in April 2023, will run through January 2024. Additionally, von Furstenberg is set to be the star of an upcoming documentary directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, scheduled to premiere on Hulu in 2024.
