Dickies is embracing its skateboarding roots.
The workwear brand, long a favorite of skateboarders looking for durable pants that would survive inevitable falls, has teamed with Guy Mariano to expand its offerings for both skaters and streetwear fans.
Mariano, who got his start as a child in Burbank, Calif., is widely regarded as one of the sport’s most influential skaters and has won many awards over the years.
The Dickies collaboration is inspired by California skateboarding in the ‘90s and includes Guy Mariano’s signature jorts, athletic mesh shorts, a classic striped polo and a 3/4 zip anorak. The pieces offer details such as embroidery and branded pull tabs and a California-inspired color palette.
The seven styles will retail for $34.99 to $89.99 and will be sold on the Dickies site as well as at select skate shops in North America.
“Dickies has been an iconic brand for skateboarders for decades and has since built one of the most versatile and respected skate teams, so it is a full-circle moment for me to collaborate with Dickies Skateboarding on this collection,” Mariano said. “When developing this line, I aimed to capture the same style and feel I had skateboarding in the ’90s while honoring the core values Dickies is known for as a heritage workwear brand.”
The collection launches Tuesday.
