Donald Trump has mocked Ron DeSantis for wearing height-boosting shoes.
The former US president performed a ‘Monty Python’ style silly walk as he took aim at his Republican rival for wearing lifts in his cowboy boots.
Trump told the crowd at a rally in New Hampshire that he thought DeSantis was “wearing ice skates” at the third Republican primary debate last week – the first time he has commented on speculation that the Governor of Florida has started to wear shoes that boost his 5ft 11 inch stature.
The maverick politician told cheering supporters on Saturday (11.11.23): “And I’m not wearing lifts, either, by the way. I don’t have six-inch heels.
“Actually the greatest moment of the debate was when Ron was walking – or Ron DeSanctimonious was walking – off the stage and his feet.
“Because his cowboy boots, they have a high heel but on the inside you’ve got a big deal going on.”
Trump left the podium in a manner akin to that of John Cleese in the famous ‘Monty Python’ sketch ‘The Ministry of Silly Walks’.
The former president said: “He’s walking off stage like he’s trying to balance himself. I thought he was wearing ice skates. What difference does that make?”
DeSantis’s posture when wearing cowboy boots has led to speculation that he is wearing lifts to make himself appear taller.
The politician’s campaign has strongly denied that he is doing such a thing and said last month that his shoes were “just standard, off-the-rack Lucchese boots”.
