Don’t Be Fooled, This Lifted Pontiac Aztek Isn’t Worth $13,000

I’ve mentioned what it’s like coming to automotive realizations before. One of the biggest realizations is coming to terms with the fact that the Pontiac Aztek isn’t as bad as it was made out to be when they were new. In fact, if it were put on the market today the Aztek would probably be pretty successful thanks to its crossover practicality, which has led some to seek out old Azteks and buy or flip them. It also means there’s some examples out there with silly prices, as a recent Facebook Marketplace find shows.

First spotted in a tweet (h/t to @Lriga_), there’s a rather interesting 2002 Aztek for sale. This all-wheel-drive Aztek in Stillwater, Minnesota has been turned into more of an off-roader, with a previous owner adding a lift kit and big all-terrain tires. Bright red paint and a red and grey interior helps it stand out, and its 89,000 miles isn’t bad for a car that’s more than 20 years old.

It also looks to be pretty decent condition. The seller mentions it has a clean Carfax history, runs great and is street legal — not sure why it wouldn’t be — and it has new headlights and brakes. Unfortunately this uniqueness comes with an “I know what I have” price tag. If you were interested in owning this “unique” Aztek, you’ll have to part with $13,000. That’s probably $8,000 too much, given what other Azteks have gone for.

While the Aztek was listed on Facebook Marketplace by a private seller, the photos of it look to be a listing for a dealer in North East, Pennsylvania called NFI Empire. A quick inventory search shows they have five Pontiacs in stock and not a single one is this Aztek, so either someone actually paid that amount for this thing and the Facebook ad hasn’t been taken down yet, or the seller on Facebook Marketplace is the person who bought it from the dealer and he’s trying to flip it. Either way, this thing isn’t unique or cool enough to cost more than $10,000.
