From dark spots to acne, I always turn to Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare to fix my skin concerns. Because of my breakouts and sensitive skin, I have textured skin, which is difficult to hide with makeup. You can strategically use products that can help reduce the appearance of pores, bumps, and fine lines temporarily, but those can be drying or even pore-clogging for my skin.
That’s why Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare sought to create a product that promises deep hydration with skin-blurring effects: meet the DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream ($68). It’s a lightweight, silky cream that is supposed to blur fine lines, reduce the appearance of pores, and smooth the skin with a satin-matte finish. Our editors love the DermInfusions line, from the Fill + Repair Serum to my go-to Plump + Repair Lip Treatment, so I had high hopes for positive results on my textured skin.
Ahead, you can read my in-depth review of this unique moisturizer and how it works under makeup, and read some tips from board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dennis Gross himself on how to properly use the cream.

What I Like About the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream
Judging from my years of testing out skin care products, the DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream is actually unique. How can something feel so deeply hydrating, but leave a satin-matte skin-like finish? Its texture is a silky smooth cream that blends and feels like a silicone-based primer, even though it’s not formulated with silicones. It doesn’t sit on top of the skin either. Instead, you can feel the product sink into the skin and deeply hydrate each layer. “This cream increases internal hydration levels with four molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. It also utilizes encapsulated resveratrol for powerful antioxidant protection and anti-inflammatory benefits, resulting in calmer and smoother skin,” Dr. Gross tells PS. This moisturizer has both immediate and long-term benefits.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream Without Makeup
When I apply the cream to my skin — although it’s very subtle to capture on camera — I can immediately see a difference in the texture of my skin. There’s an overall smoother appearance that blurs the look of my pores and revives any dullness. This cream also helps reduce redness and I can visibly see any skin irritation slowly disappearing. The more I use it, my skin’s barrier feels supported with less inflammation and my skin has an overall healthier appearance. Dr. Gross also notes that applying this cream after being in the sun is necessary because overexposure to UV rays can trigger more water loss than usual. Although I’ve avoided fine lines thus far thanks to sunscreen, I notice that my skin looks and feels more plump and hydrated. My skin is significantly softer and smoother, creating the perfect base for makeup.

Your makeup is as good as your skin prep, and this product proves that, as you can see above. My foundation lays on top of the moisturizer beautifully and blends seamlessly with my skin. The texture I usually notice when I wear makeup is significantly minimized. I’ve used the DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream under makeup several times, and no matter what combination of products I use, there is absolutely no pilling. Because of its blurring properties, I don’t have to do so much skin prep and I end up using less product overall, which gives my skin much-needed breathing room. This cream is the base that helps me achieve a long-lasting, natural, demi-matte look without losing hydration — even after a long night.
How to Use the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream
Whether you’re using it as a daily moisturizer or for makeup prep, the steps are pretty much the same. On clean skin, apply your go-to toners and serums for your skin’s needs, and then go in with one or two pumps of the DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream. “If you are going to use it as a makeup primer, I recommend layering our DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream on top of the DermInfusions Fill + Repair Serum and then massage it into the skin using upward strokes. Remember it’s important to always apply your products from thinnest to thickest for optimal absorption,” says Dr. Gross.
What to Consider Before Trying the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream
Although it’s ideal for all skin types, if you have oily or combination skin, I recommend using lightweight skin prep with watery essences or serums underneath this cream, rather than something thick and viscous. The DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream has a beautiful texture that works with a wide range of products, but it’s not something that will prevent creasing like a primer does. I spot-treat areas where I crease the most, like my laugh lines with a primer, rather than applying primer all over my face, which can be drying on the skin.
Is the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream Worth the Splurge?
At $68, this moisturizer is on the pricier end, however it does provide immediate results. For me, the DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream has a specific job in my routine, and I only use it on days when I need that skin-blurring effect when I wear makeup. Therefore, it lasts a long time, and a little goes a long way with this product. Plus, with 1.7 fluid ounces of product, it’s cheaper by the gram in comparison to other popular makeup prep moisturizers. The formula combines the benefits of a hydrating moisturizer with a mattifying or blurring primer without drying my skin out, and I haven’t found anything like it on the market.
Where is the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Blur + Repair Cream Available?
