A team of volunteers ready to help local prospective jobseekers get ready to make a lasting impression will visit the Peel region next month.
The Dress for Success WA program will spend two days at the Ravenswood Community Centre on July 17 and 18 as part of its regional outreach program.
The charity operates within a global network of Dress for Success programs that empower women to achieve financial independence through employment by providing them with the professional clothing and career development needed to get them there.
DFSWA specifically caters to women who may require extra assistance to get into the workforce, including survivors of domestic violence, long-term carers, single parents and those who have been long-term unemployed.
The team will provide free hour-long appointments during their visit to Ravenswood which will see participants be provided with at least two professional outfits to keep for job interviews, while also being focused on building their self-confidence and helping them to get job-ready.
Women from all cultures and backgrounds, including transgender women and non-binary people who are comfortable in women’s spaces, are welcomed to attend.
DFSWA chief executive Natalie Sangalli said the program had helped thousands of women across WA to gain employment.
“We provide professional clothing and personal styling, along with career support, advice and training, to help women regain their confidence and successfully prepare for work,” she said.
“We work with women from all backgrounds and cultures, particularly women who have faced multiple economic and social challenges.
“Having paid employment is the surest way to financial independence and our work is all about building confidence, self-esteem, and skills and providing an ongoing network of support to help make this happen.
“If you, or someone you know could benefit from our professional styling and career services, make sure you register with our team as soon as possible.”
