“Dune: Part Two,” the highly anticipated sequel to one of the most popular science fiction adaptations in recent years, dominated the box office in its opening weekend, raking in a solid $81.5 million in domestic sales, according to studio estimates. Globally, the film has earned $178.5 million.
“This is exactly what the box office needed and exceeded all our predictions,” stated Jeff Goldstein, president of domestic distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, the movie’s distributor. “This is especially true considering it’s a sci-fi film, a genre that typically faces challenges. The $178.5 million global earnings are truly outstanding.”
Warner Bros. and CNN are both under the ownership of Warner Bros. Discovery.
