POLICE have launched an “unexplained” death probe after a woman was found dead at a home in a Scots town.

Officers also scrambled to the property after receiving reports of the sudden death of a woman.

Shortly after they arrived at the block of flats, they found the body of a woman, whose age is unknown.

The circumstances surrounding the death are currently unclear.

However, cops have confirmed that they are treating the death as “unexplained”.

Photos from the scene last night show a number of emergency vehicles in the area.

Two police cars and two ambulances were spotted parked on Inverkip Street.

A number of officers were also seen walking into the home.

Police have confirmed that they have launched a probe into the death and enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.35pm on Saturday, 20 January, 2024, police were called to a property in the Inverkip Street area of Greenock, following the sudden death of a woman.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, pending further enquiries.”
