ABU DHABI, 10th July, 2023 (WAM) — With an unwavering commitment to nurturing students’ educational experience, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) selects one hundred of the top-performing Emirati students as part of ADEK’s enrichment programmes, including Rize UPCG, Rize Honours, Sports programme and more.
Students in grades 10 – 12 across private, public, and Charter schools will experience and explore the international educational opportunities at some of the world’s top universities in the USA, Canada, India, South Korea, and Turkey.
This unique academic opportunity is designed to upskill aspiring and talented students, develop a global mindset, expand their knowledge, engage with different cultures, and empower their academic and personal growth internationally.
Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, ADEK Undersecretary, said: “We firmly believe in the importance of upskilling Emirati students as these budding talents are the building blocks for the country’s ongoing socioeconomic progress. The Rize Summer Programme is a major step forward in our dedication to nurturing the student’s passions across multiple disciplines and equipping them with the required future skills.”
“As this summer’s student intake commences new educational chapters in a diverse array of fields such as nanotechnology, biomedical sciences, sustainable energy, law, and gaming, the global exposure they will gain will equip our talented students for the jobs of the future and assure their ongoing contribution to the emirate’s development across a range of critical growth sectors,” said Al Mheiri.
This summer will see Emirati students from ADEK’s Rize UPCG Programme take up places on summer programmes at the Harvard University in Massachusetts in USA; University of Toronto in Canada; Rubika and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in India; Ghent University Global Campus in South Korea; and Bahçeşhir University in Turkey.
Additionally, students from ADEK’s Sports Enrichment Programme will attend the IMG Academy in the US state of Florida to hone their athletic performance in basketball, football, and track and field.
To ensure the students’ readiness for international studies, ADEK organises a comprehensive series of pre-departure orientation sessions for each student group traveling to their respective international universities.
The sessions aim to provide students with extensive knowledge to navigate the unique international academic journey ahead of them and maximise their potential for success.
As for the programme’s local offerings, students will get an exciting opportunity to participate in a series of captivating lectures, exhilarating hackathons, and an Immersion Math programme throughout the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi Summer Programme in Abu Dhabi, which will provide students with invaluable hands-on experiences, that will advance the emirate’s youth in the STEM-related fields.
