Former Patriots cornerback Jack Jones did not hide his feelings about football fans in New England in a string of posts on X over the weekend.
The pointed comments seemed to stem first from a video of former Patriots quarterback Mac Jones posted to social media by the Jaguars, with whom he seemed much happier and comfortable.
It elicited a reaction from Jones, who wrote “they said Mac look happier in Jax lol it was NE it wasn’t Bill NE fans x1000000000000” followed by thumbs down emojis.
The comment must have caught the attention of Patriots fans who didn’t appreciate the remark, because Jones made a second post that led to a slew of others.
“Pats fans didn’t like that comment LOL stop acting like yall run the world and players don’t [f–k] up.. players [f–k] up and yall don’t run the world. Fan said ‘you would feel the same way (tried to say Mac had a trash season..)’ let me see a FAN WIN A GAME IN THE NFL..”
He then continued by calling the fans trash for “acting like they can do better than ANY football player on ANY ROSTER” and saying that they should allow players the time and support to develop.
“One day yall love mac the next day yall hate him.. one day yall love Jacc but the next day im a criminal that walk around wit guns.. raiders nation stand tall thru it all ups and downs from the time I been here fans had nothing but good things to say,” Jones posted.
Jones had been a member of the Patriots for most of the 2023 season after he was arrested in June at Boston’s Logan Airport on weapons charges.
The charges were dropped in September after Jones agreed to serve one year of pre-trial probation and 48 hours of community service.
The Patriots cut Jones in November without explanation, and he was picked up by the Raiders on Nov. 14.
“Believe it or not players feel that love from the fans nd at the same time we feel the tension too.. it’s love forever raider nation. Fans build A beast or make a crumb,” Jones continued in another post.
The Raiders corner flashed some of the ability that made him a talented defensive back early on during his stint in New England.
