Tarek El Moussa broke his silence on his ex-wife Christina Hall’s (née Haack) latest divorce.
El Moussa, 42, and his wife, Heather Rae Young, addressed the news that Haack, 41, split from her third husband, Josh Hall, after less than three years of marriage in a new interview.
“Life’s tough, s–t happens,” the HGTV star told E! News on Tuesday.
“We got one shot at life and we gotta do what’s best for us, so whatever she needs, we’re here to help,” he added.
El Moussa was married to Haack from 2009 to 2018. The exes have two children, daughter Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, 8.
In May, HGTV announced that El Moussa and Haack will reunite for a new competition series, “The Flip Off,” with their respective spouses.
However, El Moussa and Young, 36, confirmed to E! News that the series — expected to premiere in 2025 — won’t feature Haack’s latest ex anymore. Instead, it will be “us against her,” Young said.
“But we support her,” the “Selling Sunset” alum added, noting that she’s confident Haack will “get through this.”
Before the couple’s interview, El Moussa shot down rumors that he referenced Haack’s divorce on his Instagram Story.
On Monday, the “Flipping 101” star shared a photo of a street sign that read, “Bittersweet Lane.” Fans immediately speculated he was subtly reacting to his ex-wife’s marital drama, which he denied in a follow-up post.
“This has nothing to do with Christina,” El Moussa wrote, per ET. “I was on a walk looking at cool houses and found the street name neat and wanted to share. Please stop sending me nasty messages. Thank you.”
Haack and Hall each filed paperwork to end their marriage last week. Haack listed their date of separation as July 7, while Hall listed it as July 8.
According to the documents, Hall has requested spousal support and for his ex to pay his legal fees. He also reportedly wants the rights to any HGTV-Discovery Network shows that he and Haack produced together during their marriage.
Haack, meanwhile, reportedly asked the court not to award alimony to either party.
The “Christina on the Coast” star secretly married Hall on Oct. 6, 2021. At the time, Haack was three years removed from her divorce from El Moussa.
Their relationship ended with drama, as El Moussa wrote in his 2024 memoir that after a heated argument, he “went out to our backyard in Yorba Linda and hopped over the fence,” and Haack allegedly thought he was fleeing with a gun and called the cops.
According to El Moussa, he wanted to exercise and scout the trails near their house. He said that he brought along a gun because they lived near Chino Hills State Park, California, which is a hotbed of mountain lions and bobcats.
In an interview with PEOPLE, El Moussa said the weeks after the breakup were “physical and emotional hell.”
He also said it was “devastating” when Haack moved on with her second husband, British car specialist Ant Anstead, who she was married to from 2018 to 2021.
However, El Moussa and Haack were eventually able to move past their drama.
“I hold nothing against Christina,” El Moussa told PEOPLE. “I understand why she did what she did. We had a lot of hard years through my sicknesses and my mental health struggles from the testosterone.”
El Moussa started dating Young in 2019. They got married in Oct. 2021 in Mexico, and their son Tristan was born in January 2023.
