Exciting FC Barcelona Star Could Leave If Bundesliga Offer Is Accepted

FC Barcelona winger Ez Abde could leave the club for Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen, who are preparing a €20 million ($21.8 million) bid for him according to SPORT.

Barca would prefer to offload Ansu Fati instead, who would be able to demand a higher fee on the transfer market.

With a contract that runs until 2027, however, the number 10 once touted as the future of the club who has fallen out of favor with coach Xavi Hernandez, is under no obligation to leave despite interest from the Premier

PSG were willing to pay €35 million plus €15 million for Fati according to the Catalan daily newspaper. Yet president Joan Laporta insisted on a one-off payment of €50 million as the Qatari-owned Ligue 1 joins recently handed over for Ousmane Dembele when they triggered his release clause.

Sent out on loan to Osasuna last season, who he helped unexpectedly reach the Copa del Rey final, Abde returned to Barca this summer and knew he had to win Xavi over.

The Moroccan international has done this after being taken on the preseason tour of the United States, but the last few days have seen Xavi want to sign more attacking players given Dembele’s departure.

This means that cash-strapped Barca have to sell players, but Fati and Ferran Torres, who would bring in the most money, won’t budge and are intent on fighting for their places.

There is concrete interest in Abde, however, who has been particularly effective coming off the bench as of late as an impact substitute capable of giving Barca the creative spark they lacked in the first half of their most recent La Liga outings against Getafe and Cadiz.

The offer from Xabi Alonso’s Bayer doesn’t seem to come with a repurchase option as seen when Barca offloaded Nico Gonzalez to Porto.

If Abde fulfils his undoubted potential, this might be something that Barca live to regret as they did with Dani Olmo who is now lighting up the German top flight with RB Leipzig.

In any event, the potential Abde transfer will be discussed until the close of the transfer window next week, with Aston Villa in the Premier League another party who wouldn’t mind snapping up Abde and taking advantage of Barca’s precarious financial predicament.
