Itumeleng Khune has represented Kaizer Chiefs with great distinction. He recently made his 364th appearance for Amakhosi, the most of any player in the club’s PSL era history. The 2023-24 campaign will be his last at the club as a player, so a long-term replacement must therefore be found. It’s a bittersweet reality for the player, the club and the fans. However, it also affords everyone the opportunity to move on and into a new direction.

Dolly and Hlanti are past their best
Vice-captain Keagan Dolly and veteran left-back Sifiso Hlanti are both on the wrong side of 30 and unlikely to be offered new deals when their current ones expire. Again, this is a moment for the club to act, upgrade on their options and not be sentimental.
