On April 1, Alexandra Palt will be stepping down as executive director of corporate social responsibility at L’Oréal in order to “embark on a new personal chapter devoted to new projects,” says the global beauty giant in a press release.
An important figure at L’Oréal, Alexandra Palt joined the group as director of sustainable development in 2013, and was appointed to the executive committee as managing director of corporate and environmental responsibility in 2019. She will continue to act as executive director of the L’Oréal Foundation until June 30 and will then sit as a member of the board of directors of the L’Oréal Foundation.
Alexandra Palt launched two impact investment funds within the L’Oréal Group (the L’Oréal Fund for the Regeneration of Nature and the Circular Innovation Fund) and was part of the project to display the environmental footprint on products. She will be replaced by Ezgi Barcenas.
Ezgi Barcenas will join the L’Oréal Group on March 1, after more than 10 years with the brewing group AB InBev, where she has held the position of director of sustainable development since August 2021. During her decade at the New York-based brewing giant, Barcenas led interdisciplinary teams focused on agricultural development, water management, circular packaging and climate action “to build a resilient and prosperous value chain spanning nearly 50 countries,” the statement said.
Barcenas also recently made the Time magazine’s TIME100 Climate list, which recognises 100 of the world’s most influential climate leaders.
In the first nine months of 2023, the L’Oréal group posted sales up 9.4% at €30.57 billion.
