Fakir Mohan University gets NAAC ‘A’ grade with 3.18 CGPA

Bhubaneswar: Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, was awarded ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the second cycle of assessment. It has received 3.18 grade point out of 4, which is so far the highest point received by a state public university under the higher education department in the state.
According to the NAAC certificate, the university received 3.2 grade point for curricular aspects, 3.43 for teaching learning and evaluation, 2.44 for research, innovations and extension, 3.65 for infrastructure and learning resources, 3.67 for student support and progression, 2.98 for governance, leadership and management and 3.78 for institutional values and best practices.
The NAAC peer team had visited the campus from September 12 to September 14 for assessment. They had visited all departments and precisely assessed and evaluated the qualitative metrics outlined in the Self Study Report (SSR) submitted to NAAC by the university.
During the first cycle of assessment, the university received B+ grade.
“It is an achievement for Fakir Mohan University. In the first cycle, we were B+, but we have jumped to A with 3.18 CGPA. It is so far the best score in Odisha’s government universities under the higher education department. I hope we will maintain this and work hard to get A+ in future,” said Santosh Kumar Tripathy, vice-chancellor of FM University.
He said they will improve in research and development, governance and management. “Only 0.08 points would have given us A+ grade,” he added.
Earlier, premier Utkal University, Bhubaneswar had received A grade with 3.16 cumulative grade point average (CGPA), while Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada was awarded A grade with 3.1 CGPA. Berhampur University received a B grade earlier this year.
Meanwhile, NAAC peer teams will visit Utkal University here and Sambalpur University for assessment. Their three-day visit will start from September 27. While the NAAC team will assess the Sambalpur University, it will reassess the performance of Utkal University.
