There’s never a dull moment when you’re living on a farm full of animals, it seems.
Farmer Wants a Wife favourite Claire Saunders took to Instagram on Thursday to explain the story behind an adorable picture of her pug, Mowgli, sporting bright red bandages on his hind legs and right front paw.

Posting a video of a glum-looking Mowgli, she can be heard saying, “They are some snazzy little socks you’ve got there, Mo!”
‘So, he’s not very happy with me,” she explained.
“He swallowed a grass seed and it actually got stuck in his neck.
“So we’ve had an operation today under here to get it all out,” she said, pointing to his throat.
“And because the cones actually sit where they’ve cut, he can’t have a cone, so he has to have these awesome little Christmas socks.
“You could be like Santa’s little elf!”
Claire then shared another still photo of Mowgli looking adorable, if somewhat sad, in his little red “socks”.
“My tired naughty little elf,” the picture was captioned.
Mowgli is not one of the farm’s working dogs, although he seems to go everywhere with the couple, if one recent selfie is anything to go by.
Recently Claire shared a picture from inside a farm truck, with the farm dogs on the trailer and Mowgli sitting on her lap and looking out of the window.
“We love a good mirror selfie,” the photo was captioned.
Mowgli was a surprise present to Claire from Farmer Andrew.
Announcing the arrival of Mowgli in July, Claire wrote: “Haha not sure he will make a good working dog but OMG my heart.”
In a separate picture, Claire was shown cuddling Mowgli, who was looking directly at the camera, ready for his selfie.
In another cute photo, a rather sodden-looking Mowgli was all wrapped up in a pink towel.
“Little drowned pug-rat,” Claire captioned the photo.
For anyone curious about the name, Mowgli is the main fictional character in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book stories.
