Another man, aged 74, has been reported to the procurator fiscal.

The alleged abuse is said to have happened at the private day school between 1968 and 1992.

Nicky Campbell, 62, has previously spoken publicly about a teacher he claimed abused his classmates.

The broadcaster, from Edinburgh, said he was “up there with Jimmy Saville”.

The BBC presenter alleges he witnessed sexual abuse by the teacher but was not abused by himself.

Mr Campebell claimed that the things he saw left him like a “physical island”.

He said:  “A million images flash through your mind every day, little vignettes from your life, and that’s right up there, the stuff I saw and experienced.

“I became like a physical island. I didn’t want to be touched any more.”

Cops thanked those who came forward to help with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Colin Moffat said: “We would like to thank everyone who has come forward and assisted our enquiries to date.

“While the investigation of child abuse, particularly non-recent offences, can be complex and challenging, anyone who reports this type of crime can be assured that we will listen and we will investigate all reports, no matter when those offences occurred or who committed them.

“If you have suffered abuse, or you know anyone who may have been the victim of child abuse then please call Police Scotland on 101.”
