A Willeton family has predicted their own Lotto win — taking home a life-changing $2.3 million from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto Megadraw.
One of two WA-based tickets to claim a Division One prize, the lucky slip purchased online won a sizeable fraction of the $30 million Megadraw — despite a crystal ball prediction that they would never actually win the Lotto.
“A family member went to a fortune teller who, when asked, said I was not going to win the Lotto, but it turns out they were wrong,” said the ticketholder upon claiming the victory at Lotterywest HQ.
“I was going through my work emails when I noticed a message from Lotterywest telling me to check my ticket,” they said.
“After discovering the win, I haven’t had much sleep, and I usually sleep like a champ.”
While the winners have welcomed the cash injection to their disposable income and holiday budget, they don’t believe it’s enough to retire prematurely and have opted to continue working.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney has put the call out for the second Division One prize draw winner to come forward, who purchased their ticket from Michael’s Health Chemist in Wembley.
“Our advice to anyone who bought a Saturday Lotto ticket for the $30 million Megdraw from Wembley is to check it as soon as you can,” he said.
In what was a very ‘lucky’ 2023 for WA — celebrating 83 winners — Lotterywest is keen to add their first victor for the new year this week.
“It would be special to kick 2024 off with a $50 million winner from this Thursday’s Powerball draw,” said Mooney.
Any other players keen to prove their fortune tellers wrong can purchase a ticket for Thursday’s $50 million Powerball draw in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App until 6pm Thursday.
