FREEVIEW has announced a shake-up affecting 15 channels, which includes launching four new stations.
However, the channel shuffle will see three channels disappear from your TV Guide forever.
“On 12th June 2024 some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels,” Freeview states in an update on its website.
“You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date.”
The three channels closing down are TV Extra, TCC and Earthx TV.
For TCC fans, fear not. Freeview channel Blaze – channel 64 – airs all the same programmes.
And with channel closures, come channel launches.
Freeview has revealed that four new stations are coming to your TV Guide once you update your telly.
The new channels include:
- POP UP – joining channel 207
- Extreme – joining channel 295
- That’s Memories – joining channel 71
- That’s Memories MCR – joining channel 95
Why does Freeview change channels so often?
According to Freeview, there are multiple reasons why the broadcaster shuffles its channels.
“Sometimes channel names or numbers can change,” the broadcaster explains in a help page.
“This could be for a variety of reasons, including adjustments to airwaves or because the channels have requested these changes themselves.”
Most people will get an on-screen alert warning of upcoming changes.
“Usually, you’ll get an on-screen message when changes are taking place,” Freeview notes.
“But you can also enter your postcode into our updates and alerts page to see if any changes have been made and which channels are affected.”
