From copper bottles to Soda Stream – we test three products to help you drink more water

WATER doesn’t just make you look good on the outside – hydrating  is key to  many aspects of your health.

It is important for body temperature,   joint lubrication,  weight loss, brain function and digestion.  Adults need up to 2.5 litres a day but many drink too little.

MANY bottles have markers to show how much you drink.  I love this one from Hydration Movement. It holds a litre but won’t weigh you down.

It’s soft to the touch, has a  pretty frosted finish and the spout is a good size for avoiding spillages.

You can even pop in bits of fruit  to liven things up and it’s easy to clean.  I use mine every day, and the plastic used to make it contains none of the chemical BPA.

It comes in pink, black and white – with a range of different coloured lids.  Cleaning brushes and long ice-cube trays are also available. (From £29 at hydrationmovement.com)

Copper

This copper water bottle could help digestion and improve brain function

IT’S been said that copper water bottles could help digestion, boost immunity, strengthen bones and improve brain function.

I wouldn’t guarantee any of those, but what you do definitely get is a more hygienic bottle because copper is a natural antibacterial, which is effective against E. coli and salmonella.

To get any potential benefits, the water needs to be stored at least overnight, if not longer  – so I top up this one at night, ready to drink in the morning.

Paani copper bottles are lovely. They come with a silicone sleeve to cover the cold copper and are strong.

I have dropped this bottle and, although it now has a big dent in  it, the water has never leaked.  (From £35 for 700ml bottles, paanibottles.com)

SodaStream's lovely On The Go My Only Bottle

SodaStream’s lovely On The Go My Only Bottle

I LOVE sparkling water and used to spend a fortune on bottles of the stuff – which is not  good for me or the environment.

But now SodaStream has brought out the lovely On The Go My Only Bottle.

It’s a BPA-free plastic design with a capacity of 500ml, so  not too big to carry around.

Obviously you need to buy the SodaStream machine and the CO2 refills, too.

But this works out cheaper in the long run than buying bottles from the supermarket.

I love that this dinky little container has a strap so you can carry it around.

Plus, you can add SodaStream flavours  if you don’t like your water plain. It is dishwasher safe, too.  (From £11.99 per bottle. sodastream.co.uk)
