A charity for the homeless took to social media to share the news of the horror incident.

Glasgow-based volunteers from The Invisibles take to the streets to care for the city’s homeless.

They told how they came across more than one assault on rough sleepers over the weekend.

A message posted to X/Twitter read: “Our volunteers assisted 19 people tonight [Sunday], a wet miserable night, hopefully the big drop in numbers meant that many had some sort of accommodation or cover out of the rain.

“Sadly again a couple of regulars were assaulted last night.”

They went on to say how the man in the tent was set upon when he confronted the thug peeing on his only shelter from the torrential rain, leaving him needing hospital treatment.

The post added: “One excuse for a human being thought it was ok to urinate over his tent and then proceed to assault him as he dared to complain and damage his tent, poor guy already dealing with many health issues had to be taken into hospital.

“How low can some people go.”

Others quickly condemned the disgusting attack and branded the thug an “inhumane monster”.

One person replied: “Some real sickos out there willing to kick people that are already down on their luck.

I live on ROUNDABOUT with my wife in makeshift shanty town – we’re set on fire & beaten by thugs but we have no choice

“They don’t realise it could be them one day.”

Another wrote: “Horrible”.

And a third person said: “This is awful, what kind of inhumane monster can do that to someone in such dreadful circumstances?”

Their volunteers also told one homeless man was victim to a bottle attack over the bank holiday weekend.

They said: “Sadly another boy bottled for having the wrong colour of jacket on.

“What goes through some people’s heads?”

SCOTLAND’S CITIES GRIPPED BY HOMELESSNESS CRISIS

Scotland’s cities have been gripped by a homeless crisis as hundreds of people have been forced to sleep on the streets.

The grim reality of the crisis was revealed as scores of tents appeared on busy streets in Glasgow and Edinburgh last year.

The makeshift camps sparked fears from campaigners that even more rough sleepers could lose their lives after it emerged 244 homeless people died in 2022.

Glasgow and Edinburgh councils declared a housing emergency over the crisis.

Earlier this year, the Scottish Government declared a national housing emergency as up to 36,000 people are considered homeless across the country.

But Nats ministers voted down a similar motion in Holyrood last November and slashed the housing budget in December, leading to attacks from political opponents over the announcement.
