Gabriele Colangelo Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear Runway, Fashion Show and Collection Review

In a room overlooking the Tuileries, Gabriele Colangelo detailed the artisanal craftsmanship that went into his namesake label’s fall 2024 collection.

He was proud of the use of braided leather nets, inspired by British ceramicist Annie Turner, to construct a bomber jacket and a skirt that he said symbolized a balance between strength and fragility.

The nets also formed the middle part of a well-cut wool coat with structured sleeves, a trait that can be seen across most tailored pieces in his collection. A two-dimensional pattern with a similar effect was printed over sheer organza dresses to create a playful visual illusion, with edges cut by hand to mimic the braided effect.

Another hero look was a laidback beige knitted suit, which from afar looked like it was made of corduroy. Colangelo also continued to offer a slew of luxurious capes, dresses, jackets in leather, and cozy outerwear made with jacquards weaved with three kinds of yarns of different widths.

“Giada for me means classic pieces rethought in a very contemporary way. There I work with the most beautiful materials and the manufacturing of the collection is amazing. This is more edgy as a collection and for a bit younger customers. I am skilled at textile research, here I can push about that side of my work,” said Colangelo, who has been the creative director of Giada for almost a decade.

Under the support of Giada’s owner Redstone Group, Gabriele Colangelo runs four standalone stores in China and since last season, the designer said he has been working on a plan to roll out multi-brand retail for Redstone, which also owns Curiel and Yi, a Chinese contemporary label.
