The Galeries Lafayette department store chain, owned by the eponymous group, has appointed Emmanuelle Greth as head of HR and sustainable development. Greth, who has previously worked at Sephora, assumed her role on June 4 and will also sit on the executive committee. She reports to Managing Director Nicolas Houzé.
Greth graduated with a master’s degree in social law from Panthéon Assas University, and a master’s degree in human resources from CELSA. She began her career at Hewlett-Packard, and subsequently was head of HR at the Canal+ TV channel for 12 years. She then joined the Louvre Hôtels group as acting head of HR, and was later promoted to head of HR. In 2015, she joined Guerlain to oversee the HR department, before joining Sephora in 2020, where she was in charge of HR for Europe/Middle East.
In her new role, Greth’s mission will be “to support talent management and change management within the company, to continue to foster the growth of [Galeries Lafayette] as an attractive employer, and to ensure the staff is fully committed to the company’s ongoing transformation, as it strives to establish itself as the French leader in sustainable retail.”
In France, Galeries Lafayette operates 57 department store branches, of which 19 are directly owned and 38 are run by franchisees. Outside France, the chain operates nine branches, and is planning to open another two in India, in Mumbai and New Delhi.
