NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru has released the revised Data Science and AI sample question paper for GATE 2024 today, November 9. Candidates who are going to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2024 can check the sample papers along with the syllabus for DA on the official website at gate2024.iisc.ac.in and in this article below.
GATE 2024 is scheduled to be conducted on February 3, 4, and 10, 11, 2024.The exam paper consists of 55 questions. The first 25 questions will be of one mark each, and the subsequent 30 questions will be of two marks each.
GATE 2024 Data Science and AI Syllabus
Probability and Statistics
This section of GATE 2024 DA syllabus includes counting (permutation and combinations), probability axioms, sample space, events, independent events, mutually exclusive events, marginal, conditional, and joint probability, Bayes Theorem, conditional expectation, and variance, mean, median, mode and standard deviation, correlation, and covariance, random variables, discrete random variables and probability mass functions, uniform, Bernoulli, binomial distribution, and more.
Linear Algebra
Topics such as vector space, subspaces, linear dependence and independence of vectors, matrices, projection matrix, orthogonal matrix, idempotent matrix, partition matrix, and their properties, quadratic forms, systems of linear equations and solutions; Gaussian elimination, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, determinant, rank, nullity, projections, LU decomposition, singular value decomposition. Calculus and Optimization: Functions of a single variable, limit, continuity, and differentiability, Taylor series, maxima and minima, and optimization involving a single variable need to be covered under this section.
Programming, Data Structures, and Algorithms
Students are required to prepare for programming in Python, basic data structures: stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, hash tables; Search algorithms: linear search and binary search, basic sorting algorithms: selection sort, bubble sort, and insertion sort; divide and conquer: mergesort, quicksort; introduction to graph theory; basic graph algorithms: traversals and shortest path.
Database Management and Warehousing
The topics under this section include ER-model, relational model: relational algebra, tuple calculus, SQL, integrity constraints, normal form, file organization, indexing, data types, data transformation such as normalization, discretization, and more.
Machine Learning
(i) Supervised Learning: This includes regression and classification problems, simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, ridge regression, logistic regression, k-nearest neighbour, naive Bayes classifier, linear discriminant analysis, support vector machine, decision trees, bias-variance trade-off, cross-validation methods such as leave-one-out (LOO) cross-validation, k-folds cross-validation, multi-layer perceptron, feed-forward neural network;
(ii) Unsupervised Learning: Topics covered are clustering algorithms, k-means/k-medoid, hierarchical clustering, top-down, bottom-up: single-linkage, multiple-linkage, dimensionality reduction, principal component analysis.
Artificial intelligence
Search: informed, uninformed, adversarial; logic, propositional, predicate; reasoning under uncertainty topics – conditional independence representation, exact inference through variable elimination, and approximate inference through sampling.
GATE 2024 Data Science and AI Sample Question Papers
The DA test paper is newly introduced in GATE 2024. This serves as a practice question paper for candidates preparing for the subject. It shall be noted that the exam conducting authority has informed that they will not be able to answer any queries or provide answer keys to sample paper questions.
