Fremantle fans travelling to South Australia for next year’s Gather Round will get more bang for their buck, with the Dockers’ clash set to be part of a two-for-one ticket double-header.
Tickets for the round four festival of footy in the first weekend of April next year are set to go on sale next week, with club members set to get priority on Monday before the general public gets its chance a day later.
Freo have been upgraded from last season’s experience, when they beat Gold Coast in an off-Broadway Friday afternoon clash at suburban Norwood Oval.
The Dockers will venture to Adelaide Oval to take on Carlton in a Saturday afternoon slot on April 6, with that fixture the first of a double-header at the venue as Geelong face the Western Bulldogs that night.
The AFL on Wednesday announced the two games would be priced as a single event, meaning Freo fans can stay on to watch the nightcap match at no extra charge.
West Coast have been shifted out of Adelaide Oval after their 47-point loss to Geelong there last season. The Eagles face Sydney at Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills in the early Saturday slot.
General admission tickets are $35 and kids are at $10 for clashes at all Gather Round venues.
South Australian premier Peter Malinauskas said the state was again proud to be hosting the event after a successful first year.
“My advice to footy fans is to get in quick because after this year’s Gather Round demand for tickets will be very strong,” he said.
“Those who went to Gather Round this year loved it, and those who didn’t wished they were there.”
