General Admission closes its stores

Eight years after opening its first store in Venice, Los Angeles, General Admission, the brand founded by South African surfer Damien Farhenfort and entrepreneur Gavin Dogan, also managing partner and investor in the successful Brain Dead brand, closed its two stores in Silver Lake and Venice neighborhoods.

General Admission on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Venice, Los Angeles

Originally located on Brooks Avenue in Venice, General Admission had rapidly become an epicenter of surf and streetwear culture. Originally a multi-brand store distributing Our Legacy, Outerknown, Salvage Public, Born x Raised, Vans and Brain Dead, General Admission also carried a selection of surf culture books, Garrett Leight eyewear and ceramic creations by local brands Burgerlords and Mister Green.

After introducing its own ready-to-wear collection in 2018, featuring “made in Los Angeles” shorts, pants, T-shirts, workwear jackets, overshirts and sweatshirts designed by Brain Dead founder Kyle Ng, General Admission had finally left Brooks Avenue for a smaller space on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, dedicated almost exclusively to the brand itself.

By the end of 2021, General Admission had doubled down by opening a second store on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.
