Just when she thought she was out basketball pulled her back in.
Hanna Cavinder announced on Wednesday that she is returning to play for the University of Miami next season after spending the last year away from basketball.
“My last season of basketball was one of the most successful & challenging yrs of my life but it helped me grow immensely,” she wrote on X.
“The past few months I have been itching to get back to the game that I thought I lost the passion for. With that being said, I am returning for one more szn.”
Cavinder’s twin sister, Haley, had initially also walked away from basketball last year, but announced in November that she would play at TCU for the 2024-25 season.
In the current world of NIL and the transfer portal, it would hardly be surprising if Haley joined her sister for a reunion at Miami.
The twins began their college basketball journey at Fresno State before transferring to Miami for the 2022-23 season.
That Hurricanes team upset no. 1 seed Indiana in 2023 March Madness and ultimately reached the Elite Eight, losing to LSU, the tournament’s eventual champions.
The Cavinder twins are social media and NIL juggernauts.
Last June, it was reported that they took in $2 million in NIL deals.
A month later, they teased a future in WWE.
“From playing D1 basketball together to being the next tag team,” they wrote in one clip on social media.
“Us on our way to be the next twin tag team in the WWE,” they captioned a second video.
When Haley did her about-face last November and announced her decision to play for TCU, she captioned her announcement on Instagram as being “the last rodeo #committed.”
The twins have each played four seasons of college basketball but have a fifth year of eligibility due to COVID-19 regulations.
