Brisbane Heat will bat first against the Perth Scorchers in the BBL top-of-the-table clash at the Gabba after Usman Khawaja won the bat flip.
Khawaja and his Australian Test teammate Marnus Labuschagne come into the undefeated Heat side in place of Josh Brown and Nathan McSweeney.
Scorchers pace bowler Jason Behrendorff comes in for AJ Tye in the only change to the visitors’ line-up.
The Heat will wrap up top spot and host the BBL final qualifier with a win, but the Scorchers can still finish first if they win and then topple the Heat in the return clash in Perth on Saturday.
The Scorchers beat the Heat in last year’s BBL final and have won the past six clashes between the two sides.
As expected, Khawaja wore shoes adorned with an image of a dove of peace, as he takes a stance against ongoing violence in Gaza.
