Hidden clues hinted at Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen divorce well before it was announced

Former Home and Away star Isla Fisher and US actor Sacha Baron Cohen stunned their followers last week by revealing they had filed for divorce in 2023.

The revelation came after Australian actress Rebel Wilson called Baron Cohen an “a******” and wrote in her memoir that she was “scared” to work with him.

Fisher and Baron Cohen announced their post with a joint statement on their Instagram stories.

Over a picture of the pair dressed in white tennis gear, a note from the couple read, “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”

The message went on to say that the pair “have always prioritised” privacy, and “have been quietly working through this change.”

“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy,” the note concluded.

While the news surprised followers, there were some cryptic clues fans missed that their relationship may have been on the rocks.

Most recently, when Wilson made some unpleasant allegations against Baron Cohen, Fisher did not publicly defend her husband.

She continued to be active on social media but avoided defending Baron Cohen.

While Wilson originally did not name Baron Cohen, she changed her mind after she alledged he “threatened” her to remove the section from her book.

In a fiery Instagram caption, Wilson said: “I wrote about an a**hole in my book. Now said a****** is trying to threaten me. He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers.

“He is trying to stop the book from coming out.

“But the book will come out, and you will know the truth. The “a**hole that I am talking about in one chapter of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”

Baron Cohen strongly denied the claims.

Fisher and Baron Cohen were known to be active on social media, often posting tributes to one another.

Notably, the Borat star has not posted on Instagram since Christmas.

Fisher, on the other hand, has been out and about making several solo appearances, most notably at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty.

She also kept her wedding hand hidden across multiple appearances.

On April 4, she shared a photo from a “girls night” at the theatre alongside fellow Australian actress Naomi Watts, producer Bruna Papandrea and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery.

Fisher, who rose to fame on Seven’s Home and Away, wed Cohen in 2010 after a long engagement, and the couple shares three children.

Cohen is the star behind the Borat movies, and also received acclaim for his role in 2020’s Netflix movie The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Fisher has appeared in several popular films, including Confessions of a Shopaholic and Wedding Crashers.

Her more recent credits include the TV series Wolf Like Me and 2020’s Blithe Spirit.
