Hong Kong police launch attempted murder-suicide probe after father and son, 7, plunge from city shopping centre

Hong Kong police are probing a suspected attempted murder-suicide involving a father and son after they plunged from a shopping centre in Kowloon City.

The investigation was launched on Monday night after the man, 58, believed to be a taxi driver, and the boy, seven, both Hong Kong identity card holders, were found unconscious with serious injuries in an alley next to the mall.

Security personnel called emergency services and boy was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the man to Kwong Wah Hospital.

The incident happened at Kowloon City Plaza on Carpenter Road at about 9.20pm.

Investigators cordoned off the site and were examining the scene on Monday night.

Police said no suicide note had been found and that they had so far been unable to contact the mother of the boy.
