Way back in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell was awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone.
The year before that, the first Kentucky Derby took place in Louisville.
Tickets cost as little as a dollar, bets were made through bookmakers and women were discouraged from placing wagers, according to NBC Philadelphia.
Now, a century and a half later, the “greatest two minutes in sports” will celebrate its 150th anniversary at Churchill Downs on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.
Major competitors set to race at the festivities this time around include favorite Fierceness along with Sierra Leone, Catching Freedom, Just A Touch and Forever Young.
Best of all, tickets to see them race are shockingly cheap.
At the time of publication, we found some single-day general admission passes going for as low as $41 before fees on Vivid Seats.
Two-day passes start at $129 before fees.
Although not as cheap as tickets were in 1875, with reasonable prices like these, you’ll likely be able to spring for a second mint julep for once.
