A WOMAN who had the world’s most expensive fart has revealed how the trapped gas cost her nearly £7,000 and left her in a wheelchair.
Cinthanie McAllister took to TikTok to tell her story bizarre story in a video which has since racked up a whopping 2.1million views.
She woke up with “the most excruciating abdominal pain” and was rushed to hospital – but her condition wasn’t as serious as she feared.
After frantic medics rushed around ordering scans to find out what the problem was, Cinthanie took a trip to the bathroom.
She then let out “the fattest ripper” and realised, sheepishly, that her pain had vanished.
And if the ordeal wasn’t traumatic enough already, at the end of it the TikToker was slapped with an “obscene” bill.
“How much do you think it cost me to let out that fart in the ER with no insurance? I’m telling you right now, you’re wrong. It’s more. It’s more than what you think,” she says.
“This fart cost me $8,621.10,” she reveals.
Cinthanie began her video by explaining: “A little while ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with the most excruciating abdominal pain I have ever experienced in my life.
“I was doubled over. I couldn’t walk.”
She said the pain was so severe she had to “crawl across the floor” to wake her husband to be taken to the emergency room.
“They had to come out to the car and wheelchair me into the ER because I couldn’t walk because I was in so much pain,” she added.
Cinthanie even thought her appendix might be rupturing and had began to panic and anxiously ask: “What’s wrong with me?”
While she waited for the results of her CT scan Cinthanie realised she had needed to go to the bathroom for quite some time.
“I let out the world’s fattest ripper you’ve ever heard in your life,” she admitted.
“It was so ungodly smelling. It was so unwomanly. It was so wretched. I’m positive that if there were bugs in the walls in that hospital, they were bug-bombed out. It was so f******* bad,” she continued.
It then dawned on her that now she felt “pretty good” and and the pain might have been caused by gas all along.
Her CT scan result confirmed this – coming back clear – and Cinthanie was able to breathe a sigh of relief- until the astounding bill arrived.
A few healthcare professionals gave some helpful advice.
One said: “Ask for an itemized bill, then dispute anything you can because they will bill for EVERYTHING. Sincerely, a healthcare biller.”
Another added: “And tell them you are a cash patient. That should cut it in half or more.
“Then, just tell them you’ll make payments. Send them $20 a month. They’ll take it and do nothing more.”
Fortunately Cinthanie was able to see the funny side of the story as she laughed while retelling the tale.
Viewers were also quick to share their own experiences in the comments section.
One said: “Happened to me once… spent hours in the ER for the Dr to say I had a ‘fart stuck sideways’.”
While another wrote: “This happened to my daughter in Canada. It only cost her dignity.”
Six horrific things that can happen from holding in a fart
IT can be tempting to hold in a fart when in public — but not letting one out can have horrific consequences.
Mouth gas – When you block a fart from leaving the body, some of the gas built up in the rectum can pass through the gut wall and be reabsorbed in the bloodstream.
From here it can be released by exhaling out of the lungs, causing an odourless release of gas in the mouth.
Mouth gas does not cause smelly pongs because the sulphurous compounds made in the gut do not get reabsorbed.
However, it can still be an unpleasant symptom similar to burping – and just the thought of it is pretty gross.
Heartburn – Pain caused by indigestion felt higher up in the breastbone is known as heartburn.
It is caused by stomach acid travelling up towards the throat, which can also leave an unpleasant sour taste in your mouth.
Bloating – The build-up of gas in your gut can also cause another uncomfortable side effect — bloating.
The swelling in your belly can make your stomach balloon and feel unpleasantly full.
It can also cause your tummy to rumble and make noises.
Alongside releasing farts when you need to, exercising regularly, chewing with your mouth closed and drinking lots of water can help reduce regular bloating, according to the NHS.
Indigestion – Another short term problem from holding in gas can be indigestion.
The symptom, known medically as dyspepsia, causes pain or discomfort in the upper tummy.
Cramping – Being gassy can be uncomfortable, but holding it in can take the pain to the next level.
Cramping is a common side effect of holding in gas, caused by the build-up of gas and inflammation in your gut.
Diverticulitis – Holding in gas can cause air pockets to form inside your digestive tract.
If these become inflamed, it can cause the condition diverticulitis, according to a study published in The Lancet.
It can be severe and cause infection if left untreated.
Symptoms include pain in the lower left side of your abdomen, tummy pain that gets worse after you eat, constipation, diarrhoea, blood in your poo and bloating.
