NEW DELHI: Inspiring numerous Indian Administrative Service aspirants immersed in their preparation for the upcoming UPSC Prelims Exam 2024, IAS officer Sonal Goel on Wednesday shared a picture of her UPSC Mains marksheet on X (formerly Twitter).
The post, swiftly gaining traction on the internet, recounted her journey from facing an initial setback in her first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2007 to final selection in May 2008 results.
In her post, she emphasised that even though she didn’t secure an interview call in her initial attempt due to lower scores in the General Studies paper, Goel’s determination remained unwavering.
“Nostalgic moment as I came across my #UPSC Civil Services 2007 #Mains marksheet, reminding me of the trials and triumphs that led to final selection in #May2008 Results. I just want to share with the aspirants that in my first attempt, I fell short of getting an Interview call due to low marks in the General Studies papers in Mains. However, this setback fueled my determination to leave no stone unturned in achieving my goal,” she wrote in her post.
Narrating how she dedicatedly focused on the UPSC IAS syllabus and devoted herself completely to mastering the General Studies paper, Goel wrote, “I then devoted myself entirely to mastering the General Studies paper and improving at other aspects of Mains emphasizing on Notes making, repeated revisions and #AnswerWriting. I poured my heart and soul into every aspect of the syllabus, along with pursuing my LLB from Delhi University and doing part time job as CS – Company Secretary.”
In the midst of concerns among first-time and repeat UPSC CSE examination takers about the exam format and their likelihood of success, this online post has captured attention from users on social media.
“The result? In my second attempt, I not only cleared the Exam but also my marks in General Studies were the highest as compared to my Optionals Subjects- Commerce and Public Administration,” she added further in her post.
Through her profoundly motivating post, she extends a reminder to all aspirants that with unwavering dedication and persistent effort, no obstacle is too formidable. Additionally, she emphasised that every setback and failure serves as an opportunity to learn, adapt, and ultimately achieve success.
