IIM Visakhapatnam celebrates graduation day of MGNF programme

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) celebrated the successful completion of the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) batch 2021-2023 on Monday. A total of 61 fellows from Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Bihar were awarded certificates.
MGNF is a two-year fully funded program by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), launched under the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (Sankalp) initiative.The program, leading to a certificate in public policy and management, was conducted byIIM Visakhapatnam.
AP HRD Institute’s former Director General, D Chakrapani, graced the graduation event at IIM Vizag as the chief guest. He praised the program’s director, Prof. M Chandrasekhar, for mentoring it effectively and emphasized the importance of learning essential skills during this critical time. Chakrapani commended the MGNF fellows’ ability to handle various sectors such as education, health, transportation, and skill development, making them social entrepreneurs. He also highlighted the potential for leveraging technological advancements to bring about societal changes and achieve global excellence standards for India.
Gyati Kacho, Assistant Director of the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and SSDM representative of the Arunachal Pradesh government, spoke about his experience working with MGNF fellows. He praised the remarkable work done by the fellows, especially in Arunachal Pradesh, and noted the willingness of government officials to collaborate with them to implement public policy management skills at the district level. He lauded the efforts of IIMV’s director, Prof M. Chandrasekhar, and program director Prof Mohammad Shameem Jawed.
IIMV director Prof M. Chandrasekhar expressed his gratitude to the faculty members who nurtured the fellows’ skills. He highlighted the positive feedback from senior government officials and expressed confidence in the fellows’ future roles as civil servants. IIMV is committed to supporting their career prospects and continuing collaboration with them.
During the event, senior officials from various sectors expressed their gratitude via video testimonials and praised the efforts of MGNF fellows in their respective districts. Merit certificates and cash prizes were awarded to fellows who wrote the best essays.
Chairperson of the MGNF program, Prof. Mohammad Shameem Jawed, provided insights into the program, focusing on public policy and skill development. He praised the MGNF fellows’ rigorous work, the successful execution of significant activities, initiatives, and academic modules, and the consistent support from IIM faculty members.
